I found this recipe in this cookbook (which is the book of the month) I acquired a few years ago. Honestly, every dish in the cookbook is appetizing and we could not make up our minds at first. We decided to try the Japanese Style German Potatoes. The recipe is amazing! The Japanese found a way to recreate the infamous bacon cheese fries. Even without the cheese, it does not make is lesser than the American counterpart. No wonder it is a common dish in Japanese pubs. We recommend this not only as a pub snack but also a party dish.

- 1 tbsp. sweet rice seasoning mirin

- Add bacon and cook it until it turns light brown. Remove the rendered bacon fat from the pan.
- Use a wire strainer, take potatoes out of the fryer and transfer it to the saucepan.
- Add the rest of the ingredients: soy sauce, butter, and a dash of salt and pepper.
- As an option, add some mirin to balance out the saltiness and sweetness.
- Serve immediately.
